Christmas

Christmas is a time of high anxiety

Welcome to the destruction of our society

Werewolf howls of despair and grief

Deciding between turkey, lobster or beef

Territorial animals fight to the death

Lights, tinsel, baubles; your tree will be best dressed

Cut off your nose to spite your face

Spend money freely, like it’s a race

See the lights sparkle in children’s eyes

Realise you’re seeing greed, as the magic dies

Expectation engulfs like thunder in midsummer

As wishes are granted, but your heart starts to stutter

A bottomless pit of butterflies erupt

Why is Christmas so corrupt?

Santa will come, and sure he will

But January follows, and so do the bills
